Driving Age
The minimum age to drive our Jet Skis alone is 21 years. We do have options for drivers over 18 on our guided tours.
Experience
You must be completely familiar with Maritime Law including collision avoidance and speed limit. For 1st timers not knowing the rules please see our tour options.
Duration
Your hire period is for 20 minutes Please allow 30 minutes for the experience as you do need to go through a safety briefing.
Capacity
We only run 1 Jet Ski for hire at any one time. Each of our Jet Skis have a maximum capacity of 2 people and a maximum combined weight of 200kgs.

Do I need a Jet Ski licence?
No Jet Ski licence nor experience is necessary as your will be briefed on the laws and instructions before you head out, however the hirer/driver must have a valid drivers licence and know all Maritime Laws; ie Collision Avoidance and Speed Limits.
How old do I have to be to drive?
Must be 21 years old to rent/drive (ID is required upon arrival), a passenger can be younger than 21 but must be able to hold on safely behind the driver.
Can I swap drivers and passengers during my hire?
Our jet ski are only able to be used by the hirer. You cannot swap drivers/passengers through out the rental process.
Where can I go during my rental?
Our Jet Ski rentals are limited to a 3km area in Roys Bay of Wanaka. This gives you the ability to play around but not explore Lake Wanaka. The Jet Skis are GPS monitored to this area and will automatically lose power and speed if you leave this area. The Jet Skis also may not be beached during the rental period.
How many people can go on the Jet Ski?
Our Jet Skis comfortably seats 1 - 2 adults, with a max capacity of 200kgs. 1 adult and 1 child are permitted to go out together but the child must sit behind the adult for safety reasons. Highly recommend taking one ski per person if you’re not prepared to get wet. Skis are less stable with an additional passenger.
What do I need to wear/bring with me?
We suggest you wear appropriate clothing for the conditions. Be prepared for windchill so wear long sleeves and be prepared to get your feet wet. Remember to wear sunscreen. We also recommend water and a towel for the rental in case you end up going for a swim.
Yes you can bring a camera, The jet ski will have a waterproof pocket to store some belongings such as a camera or phone, we can store other valuables in a secure box in the Lakeland trailer.
